Sermon Structure: The Glory of the New Testament

Preached by Rev. Theophilus Ofori on February 22, 2025

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 3:7-18

Introduction
• Brief introduction to the concept of glory in the Bible.
• Explanation of Old Testament glory—the glory of the Law given through Moses.
• Introduction to the New Testament glory and how it surpasses the Old.

1. The Glory of the Old Covenant (2 Corinthians 3:7-9)
• The Old Covenant was glorious but temporary.
• Moses’ face shone with God’s glory, but it faded away (Exodus 34:29-35).
• The Law revealed sin but could not provide righteousness.

2. The Surpassing Glory of the New Testament (2 Corinthians 3:10-11)
• The New Covenant is more glorious because it is eternal.
• Christ fulfilled the Law and brought a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6).
• The Spirit gives life, not just a written code (John 6:63).

3. Transformation Through the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:12-16)
• The veil remains over those who still follow the Old Covenant.
• In Christ, the veil is removed, and we see the true glory of God.
• The Spirit transforms believers into the image of Christ.

4. From Glory to Glory (2 Corinthians 3:17-18)
• In Christ, we have freedom and access to God’s presence.
• We are being transformed daily into the image of Christ.
• The New Testament glory is not fading—it is increasing!

Conclusion
• The glory of the New Covenant is greater because it brings righteousness, life, and transformation.
• Through Christ, we are called to walk in this ever-increasing glory.
• Call to believers to embrace the fullness of the New Testament glory through faith in Christ.

Call to Action
• Encouragement to study and walk in the revelation of the New Testament.
• Invitation for those who have not received Christ to experience this surpassing glory.
